
Nokia has long been sitting heavily on the smartphone market . Nokia enjoys a Smartphone market share of almost 50 percent. They also sit as still firmly in first place in the third quarter, but their share is now down to 39.3 percent, and several of their competitors while a substantial progress. It shows the latest figures from Gartner analysis bureau for 2009 Smartphone market share.
RIM and Apple Market share
Canadian RIM behind BlackBerry models, and the U.S. Apple is still respectively number two and three, and they have both experienced strong growth in the third quarter of this year. RIM sits so now at 20.8 percent of smartphone market with sales of 8.5 million models, while Apple follows closely with 17.1 percent and 7.0 million models. This is an increase of respectively 4.9 and 4.2 percentage points.
HTC has also prosperity
HTC still sits in fourth place, and has also had success. Their market share has risen from 4.5 percent a year ago to 6.5 percent for sales in the third quarter with sales totaling 2.7 million smartphones. It should be noted that only HTC-branded models are counted in this figure, but they are becoming too much for most of HTC’s portfolio. This can also be a contributing cause for their increase.
