There are rumors that Cisco is endeavoring to acquire Skype. Skype is at present preparing an IPO, and reports suggests that Cisco will try to seize Skype before it comes to exchange.
According to TechCrunch ,Cisco has made an offer of 5 billion U.S dollars to acquire Skype. Google is also striving and looks pretty interested to acquire Skype but we are ambiguant whether the U.S authorities will allow the amalgamation of two giants that are so dominant in their own field.
According to the Wall Street Journal that the union of Cisco and Skype is more realistic. Cisco is well known in its expertise in IP telephony and it could help Skype to improve its sound quality. There is also a possibility that Cisco will integrate Skype technology into its products such as Webex and Unified Communications.
Skype is in loss because only six percent of its registered users -560 millions-  pay to use its service. Skype was sold around 3 billion U.S dollors to eBay by Danish Janus Friis and Niklas Swedish Zennström in 2003. Remind you Skype worth was 2.75 billion . U.S. last year.
