The American engineer Aydogan Ozcan, who works at the University of California, have
developed a mobile microscope which uses mobile phone’s own software  and hardware and for about 50 dollars extra equipment . It uses  a small glass disc with a single drop of blood which is to be placed in front of mobile cameras. It can then analyze the blood sample and send the result to the nearest hospital.

No special training is needed to use the invention and may therefore prove to be extremely useful in countries where there are few doctors and far to the nearest hospital.
