Google Maps is installed on millions of phones worldwide which makes it the best application but google maps lacks voice guided navigation, so it is not possible to use instead of a truly personal navigation system like TomTom or Garmin. But now the speculation that Google may soon change this.

Google Maps On the road with voice navigation
According forbes.com there is strong evidence that Google is on track with its own navigation solution for google maps with voice guidance, there will be a direct competitor to dedicated GPS’er and not least from programs including TomTom. And probably it will be a tough competitor, because Google’s services are usually free, and paid in the form of advertising.
Own operating system makes it easy
Google Maps have already have their own operating system on millions of mobile phones should make it easy for Google to expand their program without any interest from operators.
