Intel 4-core Itanium processor: Mass productions starts

The date to release  intel 4 core itanium is again posteponed. This  delay is not surprising as with new and improved design and interface is being developed by Intel 4-core Itanium processor which is codenamed “Tukwila. However intel has clrified that they have started the mass production for intel 4-core Itanium processor and will be ready to hit the end-users in the quarter-end.

Itanium architecture, the processor is based, is intended primarily for servers, also it is a pure 64-bit architecture that is not backward compatible with 32-bit applications.

While calling the new Intel processor for the most advanced, they have hitherto done, and that it will double the performance compared to its predecessor, as it described as the world’s first CPU with two billion transistors.
