Microsoft has planned to increase Xbox Live subscription gaming service rates form 1st November. This was announced by the Director of Programming for Xbox Live Larry, Major Nelson:
I wanted to let you know that as of November 1, 2010 we are increasing the price of an Xbox LIVE [membership] for some members.
The price of Xbox Live Gold account has been increased from $ 7.99 a month to $ 9.99 a month, for every three month the increase is from $ 19.99 to $ 24.99 and the users who subscribe for the year their fees change from $ 49.99 to $ 59.99.
The Microsoft Xbox Live subscription price will be increased in in Canada (.99CAD/mo), Mexico (9MXN/mo), and The United Kingdom (£5.99/mo.)

As an Xbox LIVE Gold member, you can not only play blockbuster games, such as Halo: Reach with your friends online, you can also stream movies from Netflix and music from Last.fm right to your TV. You can even connect with friends near and far on Facebook and Twitter. Plus, you also enjoy exclusive discounts and early access to game demos
Current Xbox Live Gold account holders in the U.S. can renew their subscriptions now for $ 39.99 under a special promotion which will end on 31st October.
