UN Telecommunicaion Agency (ITU) reveals that mobile phone subscribers will reach to 5 billion in 2010. The number of mobile phone user were 4.6 billion in 2009. According to the report the number of mobile broadband userswould exceed to 1 billion in 2010 year as compared to 600 million in 2009. The report also reveals that there is a great trend of smartphone growth in developed countries while in underdeveloped countries the emphasis is on services. ITU Secretary-General Hamadoun Toure said, Even during an economic crisis, we have seen no drop in the demand for communications services,” Tour also said,” I am confident that we will continue to see a rapid uptake in mobile cellular services in particular in 2010, with many more people using their phones to access the Internet”.
According to the ITU in developing countries the telecommunications companies main emphasis and growth is on SMS usages particularly in mobile banking and health services.
