Greenpeace Ranking:Nokia Takes Top Position

Nokia has taken top position in the Greenpeace ranking for making environmentally friendly electronic products. Environmental friendly devices are crucial to better rating, and according to the environmental organization that efforts of the Finnish mobile phone manufacturer to facilitate the recycling of its equipment in India. The Apple is in ninth place while last in the ranking of 16 is the Nintendo.

Microsoft to Spend $1Billion to Advertise Kinect and Windows Phone 7

Microsoft two high stakes products will be launched next month. Microsoft windows phone 7 will make its debut on 8th Novermber in North America while microsoft kinect availability is also scheduled in November. So Microsoft is at a key juncture of its history by launching two consumer technology devices.

Microsoft rates big on their new Windows Phone 7, which must compete with Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS operating systems for smartphones. Back in August it was reported so that Microsoft had committed more than half a billion dollars to advertise an operating system, and now they will allocate a similar amount for advertising of their wager on the game field, Microsoft Kinect.

Microsoft goal is to make the two products known as Christmas, and it must be resolved to advertise Kinect on everything from soda cans to the print media. Microsoft began planning the launch of Kinect in collaboration with Steven Spielberg already 18 months ago.

Microsoft wants that windows mobiles and microsoft kinect boxing should get desired success to  help keep Microsoft in both gaming and phone market since its earlier bets on smartphones and tablet PCs have not produced the desired results.

Microsoft Xbox Live Gold Subscription Price Raised

Microsoft has planned to increase Xbox Live subscription gaming service rates form 1st November. This was announced by the Director of Programming for Xbox Live Larry, Major Nelson:

I wanted to let you know that as of November 1, 2010 we are increasing the price of an Xbox LIVE [membership] for some members.

The price of Xbox Live Gold account has been increased from $ 7.99 a month to $ 9.99 a month, for every three month the increase is from $ 19.99 to $ 24.99 and the users who subscribe for the year their fees change from $ 49.99 to $ 59.99.

The Microsoft Xbox Live subscription price will be increased in in Canada (.99CAD/mo), Mexico (9MXN/mo), and The United Kingdom (£5.99/mo.)

Windows Phone 7 hit Europe in October

The  Windows Phone 7 will come in October in Europe  and in November in the U.S. This information was revealed by Microsoft COO Kevin Turner last week at the Worldwide Partner Conference in at Washington. But we hope that Microsoft Windows Phone 7 will be announced in 7th October in Europe.

However, according to the Redmond that Windows Phone 7 will come out in time for the holiday season.

Recall you here that AT&T will be “the premier WP7 carrier”, while the other carriers like Orange, Vodafone and T-Mobile will offer Windows mobile phone in Europe. Microsoft has already announced that Samsung, LG, HTC, Dell and Asus are the companies that will have Windows Phone 7 devices on launch date.

30 Million Windows 7 Phone till 2011

In a recent  REMIX-keynote and presentation, microsoft said that they expects that they  will sell 30 million Windows 7  smartphones by the end of 2011. Since Windows 7  OS is only expected to be launched this autumn, we assume that most of the 30 million units expected to be sold next year.

Microsoft  sold 18 million licenses for Windows Mobile  in 2008 and the figure was even lower in 2009. Microsoft expects that 40 percent of all handsets sold in 2011 will be smartphones, and therefore have high expectations about the sale of licenses for Windows mobile 7

Microsoft will not only be able to make money on licensing costs, but also music and video downloads and 30 percent of revenues on purchases through Windows Marketplace.

Microsoft Menlo:A New Mobile Project Without Window CE

Microsoft is currently working on a new mobile project Microsoft Menlo which will bring desktop operating system into smartphone. Microsoft Menlo phone seems to be a new mobile project to replace the Windows CE, with Window NT and other for mobile devices. Microsoft Evangelist Mary-Jo Foley has revealed the information about the two new internal code names at Microsoft – “Experiment 19″ and “Menlo”.  Experiment 19 is the graphical platform which will be used with Microsoft Menlo – which will be based on 2D/3D graphics. Microsoft Android Patents Deal With HTC

Microsoft has claimed that Google infringing Microsoft patents technology. This news came after the Microsoft made a deal with HTC, that the latter would  pay  sum amount of money to use Microsoft patents in mobile phones that would otherwise run on Android operating system. According to the Microsoft deputy general counsel Horacio Gutierrez said that Microsoft wants to resolve this issue through lawful means so that the “competitors do not free ride on our innovations.”.  Microsoft has also made contact with other mobile manufacturers in this regard. Microsoft and HTC agreement encompass all HTC phones that run on Android e.g  Nexus One and Google’s own mobile phone.  Microsoft has made such an agreement with Android mobile system, based on Linux kernel. Android is developed and operated by the company Open Handset Alliance, which is owned by Google and 64 other firms including HTC. Apple has also  sued HTC over its Android phones, beacause according to the Apple that HTC is infringing its hardware and software patents related to the iPhone.
